Bartholomew Bear's days at The Grand Theatre are over. He has been thrown out with the rubbish and finds himself attached to the front of a dustcart. Always one to see the bright side, Bartholomew makes friends with Stinks – a rather tatty Christmas tree fairy – and they soon set o ff on a very important rescue mission.
